As a PROUD Petersburg, VA native, she carries forward a long and rich family legacy with its roots in Petersburg, VA, dating back to the late 1800s/early 1900s. This City of Petersburg is not just her birthplace; it’s the heart of her identity, the place where her family’s story began. Her love for Petersburg, VA, runs deep for its historical significance and the people who form its soul. Growing up in this once-vibrant community has instilled in her a sense of belonging and a commitment to giving.

Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, Gary has carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his journey. A proud graduate of Petersburg High School in 1985, he continued his education at Virginia State University, further solidifying his roots in this once-vibrant community. Today, he aims to give back to the place that has nurtured him. As an Equipment Transport Operator III at QPH 5.0 Healthcare Consulting Group, LLC™, he embraces the responsibility of serving both his community and the healthcare industry. From May to August 2023, he assumed the role of a forklift operator and team lead, adeptly moving, loading, and unloading materials with precision. Delivering medical items and equipment, he ensures the safe and timely transportation of essential supplies to where they are needed most. He also transported staff and other team members to community events to serve the children and youth of Petersburg, VA. Gary’s journey has been one of dedication and service. Before QPH 5.0, he fulfilled roles that spanned various sectors. As a Roll-Off Driver at County Waste Roll in Chesterfield, VA, he operated a roll-off truck from October 2018 to May 2023. He collaborated closely with commercial customers to provide efficient waste management solutions. Gary’s tenure at Y.R.C. Freight as a Combination City Worker in 2018 highlighted his skills in operating tractor-trailers and handling freight deliveries within defined areas. From operating a fuel truck to serving as a CDL Heating Oil Delivery Driver and Operator, his experience spans a range of responsibilities, each executed with unwavering commitment. His role as a Machine Operator and Manufacturing Technician at Fareva Pharmaceuticals from June 2013 to February 2016 showcased his meticulous attention to detail in performing packaging functions and troubleshooting equipment related to pharmaceutical products. Gary takes immense pride in facilitating material flow, promoting safety, and maintaining quality assurance. As a Scaffold Builder/Insulator/Warehouse Worker at The Shaw Group, Inc, he demonstrated his adaptability and versatility by constructing scaffolds, insulating pipes, and working on aerial lifts. Beyond his professional journey, his heart remains intertwined with his community. Serving as a Corrections Officer at Sussex II Correctional Center, he upheld order and security with integrity. Through it all, he has remained committed to giving back and fostering positive change in Petersburg, VA, and other communities struggling. Today, with an unyielding dedication to his community and the City of Petersburg, VA, he continues to serve passionately and purposefully.

She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics with a concentration in Computational Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021. Her educational journey reflects her tenacity and passion for harnessing the power of data to drive scientific exploration and discovery. In her professional endeavors, Myia has continued to make her mark. As a Liability Claims Adjuster at GEICO, she navigates the complexities of insurance claims with precision and empathy. Her role exemplifies her commitment to providing support and clarity to individuals during times of uncertainty. Prior to her role at GEICO, Myia served as a Customer Service Representative at Maximus. Here, she played a pivotal role in connecting consumers with vital information about their benefits and insurance statuses. Myia’s journey also includes time at BookHolders, where she served as a Keyholder.
